Core Foundations Workshop: The Pelvic Floor

Even if you can’t make it to the studio, you can still join virtually and get the link to the recorded workshop with Live Virtual/Recorded sign up. Everyone has a pelvic floor, but most people know very little about this critical group of core muscles that support your organs. Pelvic floor muscles are the “foundation of the core”. When they are healthy and functional, they give us control over the bladder and bowels, aid in sexual function, provide support during pregnancy, and assist in the birthing process. Dysfunction of the pelvic floor muscles can lead to loss of bladder and bowel control, chronic pelvic pain, painful intercourse, and overall core weakness.  True pelvic floor health goes far beyond Kegel exercises. Like all muscles, pelvic floor muscles need to be strengthened, stretched, relaxed, and mobilized. Susan will teach you how to condition your pelvic floor through targeted Pilates and functional fitness exercises. You will develop a deeper level of core strength and support from the inside out, and you will feel and move more comfortably through life.

Core Foundations Workshop: The Abdominal Connection

Even if you can’t make it to the studio, you can still join virtually and get the link to the recorded workshop with Live Virtual/Recorded sign up. “Core strength” is a buzzy phrase in fitness right now. But do you know the true source of your body’s core strength and stability? Join Susan to learn about and get connected to your most important core muscle, the transversus abdominis (aka the “abdominal corset”). The condition of this deep muscle affects every aspect of your movements, daily activities, athletic pursuits, and quality of life. It is the main support structure for your spine and torso. When it is well-conditioned, it is both strong and flexible, and it increases the strength, stability, mobility, balance, and performance of your entire body. It also prevents injury. However, you cannot fix what you don’t know. In this workshop, Susan will teach you how to identify, activate, and strengthen your abdominal corset using both functional fitness and Pilates exercises. You’ll take your newfound knowledge and skill into your Pilates practice and your daily life to move with greater power, ease, and confidence!
