PCOR Owner, Aliyah Hatcher, and ProAction Physical Therapist, Carrie Coelho, are teaming up to present this workshop on osteoporosis and how to safely and effectively build and strengthen your bones using Pilates equipment.
Pilates is especially suited for this, because the springs we use are weight-bearing, yet low impact. It improves overall strength, mobility, and flexibility, which helps prevent falls. Exercises are done in various positions, so we can adjust to any limitations individuals have in certain positions – particularly older clients. We also know what types of movements to avoid.
- Carrie will explain the fundamentals of osteoporosis and osteopenia, risk factors, ways to improve your bone health, and movements to avoid.
- Aliyah will share and demonstrate safe and effective Pilates exercise protocols that she and her team use when working with clients with osteoporosis and osteopenia.
