As a beginner, I knew nothing about pilates. In three one on one lessons, my instructors showed me exactly how to perform each exercise in order to get the most benefit. This is much different from other classes I have taken (eg yoga) where very little information was provided about exactly how to perform each exercise. All three instructors were excellent; clear, positive, and aware of my limitations. The exercises targeted many different muscles and will be great to improve my strength and flexibility. After the sessions, I didn’t feel that I had over-extended myself so I think the gradual buildup will be excellent for this older (60s) previously sedentary student. The studio is easily accessed by metro and free parking is across the street. The studio is compact and class sizes are likely to be small. I have yet to determine whether I can fit this into my schedule but I have my fingers crossed that I will be able to continue with either duets (with my husband) or in a class.
